NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the City Council of the City of Redlands encourages residents to apply for a position on the following committee:
 
CITIZENS FINANCIAL ADVISORY COMMITTEE (MEASURE A 2010)
 
About the Committee
 
The Citizens Financial Advisory Committee is an independent committee created with the potential passage of Measure A, a ½ cent Transactions and Use (sales) Tax for the City of Redlands. The Committee will advise the City Council and publicly report its findings regarding appropriate use of funds raised through Measure A on local priorities including police, fire, and emergency response; paving, maintaining and repairing City streets; reducing crime and criminal gang/drug activity; trimming trees and keeping public areas well‐maintained. The responsibilities of the seven‐member committee include:
 
1.      Review the annual audits of the City of Redlands Transactions and Use  (Sales) Tax and report back to the City Council
2.      Review prior year spending and report back to the City Council
3.      Recommend to the City Council financial priorities for the coming year
 
Who may apply
 
Redlands residents who are 18 years or older and possess the skills or experience, as listed below, are welcome to apply. Employees of the City and their immediate family may not serve on the committee.
 
A professional in the field of public or private audit, finance and/or budgeting
A member of a Taxpayer group
A small business owner, sole proprietor or local business executive
A member of the general public who possesses the knowledge and skills which will be helpful to the Financial Oversight
Committee
 
Committee Members will be required to attend an initial orientation on municipal finance and review the ordinance and resolution. Further committee meetings will be held no more than quarterly, no less than annually. Attendance at each of these meetings is required to continue as a member of the committee.
 
Term of Office
 
Committee members shall be chosen by the City Council to serve staggered four year terms beginning with implementation of the measure in April 2011. With the initial recruitment, three members will be randomly selected to serve two‐year terms. All terms shall end with the sunset of the measure in 2021.

BUSINESS AND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT ADVISORY COMMISSION


The Business and Economic Development Advisory Commission (BEDAC) recommends

 to the City Council policies for the retention of businesses within the community;

policies to enhance the economic viability of the City; policies for the implementation

of the Redlands redevelopment plan; and policies and programs to encourage the relocation

of new businesses to the City.

                                                     CULTURAL ARTS COMMISSION

The Cultural Arts Commission promotes public interest in the Arts, recommends new art programs and funding for those programs, and recommends to the City Council policies to encourage, develop, and support the Arts in Redlands.
